Is Your Vacation Home Properly Covered?

A vacation home is a property aside from one’s primary residence that is used mainly for vacationing. Having a standard Homeowners policy will not provide the correct coverage, as Homeowners base policies typically exclude any “home-sharing host activities.”

Our Home-Sharing Endorsement is used to provide proper coverage for home-sharing host activities for an insured who owns a property that is being rented to others, in whole or in part, using a web-based home-sharing network platform such as Airbnb or VRBO.

Seasonal residencies, since they are not your primary residence, qualify for the Home-Sharing Endorsement when either the entire property or a portion of the property is rented to a home-sharing occupant. Any property or other structure that is listed on a home-sharing network platform and rented for up to 26 weeks (182 nights) per year will require the Home-Sharing Endorsement to be added. If your residence is rented out for more than 26 weeks, please contact your agent.

If you have a vacation home, or are planning to purchase one, please be sure to reach out to our agency to ensure you are properly covered.
